Dr Tom Phillips is a Tutor in Humanities at the University of East Anglia, and his current research is centred on the cultural, economic, and political concerns of the UK videogames industry.
Working as part of CREATe – the RCUK-funded Centre for Copyright and New Business Models in the Creative Economy – he has investigated how copyright law promotes and restrains the development of business models, creative platforms, and payment mechanisms in the videogames sector, and has recently been commissioned to conduct a literature review to examine the ways in which UK Games Tax Relief may alter contemporary development practices.
